A Global Practice

Truly transformational breakthroughs are rarely achieved alone. Through the Global Pharmacy Scholars (GPS) program, students experience health-care systems in countries around the world. They are given opportunities to collaborate with people who have different strengths, limitations and approaches to create innovative solutions for current global/local health-care challenges. The GPS program, launched with the generous support of Interim Dean Dhiren Thakker, Ph.D., and his wife, Kailas Thakker, Ph.D., is transformational for participants as they spend month-long rotations in countries such as Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, Malawi, Moldova, the United Kingdom and Zambia.

“It is my hope that their experience will be transformative. Opening their hearts to the health-care challenges of people who are less fortunate, and their minds to learning from the rich diversity of people and cultures around the globe,” Dr. Thakker said.
