A Path To Success

Transitions can be hard. Kolby Hunter ’19 began his college career with a full time job and night classes at Alamance Community College. But his dedication and hard work led to straight A’s and his acceptance into the Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-STEP). When he got to Carolina, he found the classes were tough, but he also found a team of people invested in helping him succeed. After graduating he hopes to coach high school football and help the members of his team achieve their goals.

As part of its mission to provide a high-quality education to North Carolinians of all backgrounds, Carolina is expanding its partnership with the state’s community colleges, bringing its signature C-STEP to two additional community colleges, and launching a new component to support students entering the STEM and health professions workforce. The expansion is made possible by a $1.13 million grant from the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation.
