At home on the edge of the Earth

“Here I am, at the edge of the earth, and it’s familiar.” Mary Lide Parker ’10

It’s been six years since Mary Lide Parker ’10 was in the Galápagos Islands with a group of students from the UNC School of Media and Journalism-the inception of the Living Galápagos project.

Parker chronicled her experience when she returned in 2016 to film and photograph a research expedition with oceanographers from UNC’s department of marine sciences who were studying the forces that influence our oceans, most notably El Niño.
