Carolina in Silicon Valley

In 2017 when 15 Carolina students visited AdRoll in San Francisco, a grinning Sam Trachtenberg ’94 greeted them with a recording of the Tar Heel fight song, holding high his souvenir confetti from the 2017 men’s basketball championship. They were warm welcomes from an alumnus eager to help fellow Tar Heels enrolled in “Silicon Revolution” — a Maymester course that offers students access and insights to tech giants in the area.

The course — created by James Leloudis, associate dean for Honors Carolina —connects students with the vast and growing network of successful Carolina alumni in northern California at organizations that include Apple, Google and Cisco, among many others.
