Culture of Collaboration

The physical layout of UNC’s medical and health-related schools forms a nexus of discovery and scientific excellence. For the UNC School of Dentistry, the school’s location fuels its ability to collaborate and harness the impact and value of interdisciplinary research and programs. Ultimately these programs benefit patients and add holistic perspective to the student educational experience.

As N.C. Albert Schweitzer Fellows, Jessica Oliver, D.D.S. ’11, and Maggie Fetner, D.D.S. ’11, M.S. ’13, created “Let’s Talk about Your Teeth” to bring oral health education to the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Program in the N.C. Cancer Hospital.

Since its inception in 2010, the program has greatly benefited pediatric cancer patients and their parents, as well as advanced the school’s mission to graduate well-rounded D.D.S. students.
