Kenan, Jr. Distinguished Professor and director of the UNC Neuroscience Center, are breaking new ground and researching treatments of neurodevelopment disorders and autism.

Recently ranked second in the world for peer-reviewed scientific research in autism, Carolina is unique in its approach to research — collaborating across disciplines and specialties — creating unparalleled “cells to service” delivery.

The new UNC Autism Research Center brings together world-class autism researchers from multiple disciplines to develop personalized interventions that improve the lives of children and adults on the autism spectrum. As funding for autism research is typically dedicated to specific disciplines, this new center provides critical support to promote integration and collaboration at all levels, across all disciplines — so investigators, like Philpot and Zylka, can develop and deliver transformative outcomes in North Carolina and beyond.
