The Commons Festival 2019

The Commons Festival and Residency is an initiative devoted to supporting artists by fostering a local creative community and discourse in and around the Triangle.

Given the limitations of this year, the initiative will return in digital form as part of the Carolina Performing Arts 2020-2021 season. The Digital Commons festival will take place over four weekends starting January 29, 2021, and will feature performances from the Commons artists-in-residence and “Shop Talks,” roundtable events that bring together current, emerging and aspiring arts professionals to discuss important aspects of the field.

Through the Commons, four Triangle-based performing artists of color have been awarded artist residencies at CPA. From dance to writing and spoken word, these artists bring unique backgrounds, mindsets and talents to CPA and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the Chapel Hill community.
