Supporting Underrepresented Scholars

The Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity (CPPFD) is one of the oldest programs of its kind in the nation.

Launched in 1983, the program plays a role in Carolina’s commitment to supporting underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in higher education.

“Regular faculty searches often do not yield diverse hires,” said Sibby Anderson-Thompkins, interim chief diversity officer and director of CPPFD. “This program serves as an important pathway to the professoriate here at Carolina, supporting academic departments in their efforts to attract, develop and hire historically underrepresented scholars.”

The 2020-2022 fellows began their appointments on July 1st and will certainly enhance the intellectual community at Carolina in the years to come.
