Together in living, loving and giving

“Gladys and I have built a wonderful life together and are fortunate to have been able to do the things we love and contribute in meaningful ways to the future. These gifts are another way we can make a difference and secure our future also.”

Dr. David Nicholas McNelis ’74 (Ph.D.) and his wife, Gladys Hau McNelis, of Chapel Hill, are on an epic journey that has taken them across the nation and around the world. It started nearly 60 years ago in Gladys’s native Puerto Rico.

They recently documented a $6 million bequest to Carolina to benefit the Institute for the Environment, the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC), and the College of Arts & Sciences.
