Future Pharmacists at the Ready

Since the graduation of more than 140 Carolina pharmacy students may align with the release of COVID-19 vaccinations, the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is preparing its students for the possibility of vaccinating the general public.

“As the world awaits a novel coronavirus vaccine for distribution, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy faculty, preceptors, students and alumni are engaged, prepared and trained to help our communities overcome the world’s most pressing health issue,” said Angela Kashuba, dean of the school.

The school is working with Eshelman alumni and North Carolina pharmacies to ensure the community is prepared for what is to come.

“We are preparing ourselves, pharmacists and student pharmacists, to be key administers of this vaccine,” said alumnus Patrick Brown, assistant professor of clinical education in the school’s Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education. “Pharmacists are the most accessible healthcare professionals in our system and are often rated one of the most trusted. We have a huge opportunity in front of us, and we will be up to the task.”
