A rebuilding trip

CCPSgroup

In January 2017, Carolina Center for Public Service (CCPS) staff member Becca Bender and 11 UNC students and staff members squeezed into a van bound for Lumberton, North Carolina, in the early morning hours. They returned to Chapel Hill that same night. In the hours in between, they worked alongside other volunteers to remove damaged floorboards from homes that had been flooded during Hurricane Matthew the previous October.

It takes many hands to rebuild a community. Through coordinated CCPS efforts, the Carolina community continues to assist Eastern North Carolina communities in rebuilding after the devastating hurricane.
