Part Of Who I Am

“Carolina has been part of my growing up and becoming who I am. Carolina has fed my mind, has fed by soul, has fed my heart.”

There is so much that binds Barbara Hyde ’83 to Carolina. She credits the University as having been a part of every important chapter of her life.

She earned a degree here — as an English and religious studies major, and as a Morehead Scholar. She worked here — as a University development officer and then as the executive director of the Arts and Sciences Foundation. She volunteered here – as a two-term member of the Board of Trustees, as a co-founder and co-chair of the Carolina Women’s Leadership Council, and much more. And she invested here — as a donor to many different programs across campus, but primarily to the Institute for the Arts and Humanities.

Hyde is a member of the Campaign Steering Committee for the Campaign for Carolina.

This is story number 68 in the Carolina Stories 225th Anniversary Edition magazine.
